Back Feb 11, 2017

The KL Junior League will now be known as the AirAsia KL Junior League with the announcement of the airline as its Title Sponsor; in an effort to further support football development in Malaysia as well as reiterating AirAsia's commitment towards being a dream- enabler.

The junior league has teams across five age groups from Under-8 to Under-16 which aims to advance youth football in the Klang Valley and improve opportunities for teams to play against each other in an organised competition with confirmed fixtures throughout the season while developing local talents at the grassroots level.

The season officially started today with several matches by the Under-14 and Under-16 teams being played at The New Camp, Bandar Utama - a brand new state-of-the-art football centre providing two full-sized astroturf pitches.

Rudy Khaw, Regional Head of Branding for AirAsia said, "AirAsia is more than an airline, we see ourselves as dream-enablers that provide the right opportunities for young talents to realise their dreams. AirAsia KL Junior League will give us access to raw and young talents from the grassroots level and it will be an honour to help them through their journey towards being a professional footballer. Through our exclusive collaborations with QPR and PJ Rangers, we aim to integrate our efforts to give these talents a chance to experience training regimes and clinics with professional clubs to further raise the bar of young Malaysian players."

Will Kucia, AirAsia KL Junior League Director said, "The partnership with AirAsia is incredibly exciting for the league. In AirAsia we believe we have found a sponsor who truly shares our vision for youth football in Malaysia. Committed to improving opportunities at the grassroots level, the league aims to make youth football accessible to children from all backgrounds. With the proper foundations in place we hope, together with AirAsia, we can see youth football flourish in the Klang Valley and Malaysia."
