AirAsia the World Champion Connecting Shenzhen to the World
AirAsia celebrates 10 years of flying to Shenzhen, the leading foreign airline for passengers carried
AirAsia, the world's best low-cost airline is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of flying into Shenzhen, China. A celebratory event was held in Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport today to mark the milestone.
AirAsia started its operation in Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport a decade ago with a breakthrough concept that differentiated the airline from the traditional Chinese airlines. On 15 July 2007, AirAsia introduced the low-cost air travel concept in Shenzhen with direct flights from Shenzhen - Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen - Bangkok. Within the same year, AirAsia also added the Shenzhen - Kota Kinabalu route.
To date, AirAsia offers 35 weekly flights from Shenzhen to Southeast Asia. This year itself, the average load factor for the three routes from Shenzhen recorded a performance of over 85%, placing AirAsia as the leading foreign airline in terms of flight frequency and passengers flown in Shenzhen. Since its inaugural flight, the airline has flown a total of 4.3 million guests in and out of Shenzhen, bringing a large number of local and international traffic into the city.
To celebrate this occasion, AirAsia is offering all-in fares as low as RM256* from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen and RM257* from Kota Kinabalu to Shenzhen. Bookings are available on airasia.com from 17 to 23 July 2017 for travel period from 19 July to 24 November 2017.

In the future, the airport will leverage on the ‘One Belt One Road' strategy and development at free trade areas in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, to deepen the structural reform of the civil aviation in Shenzhen, and accelerate the development towards Asia-Pacific as an international aviation hub.
