Four awards in mid cap category

AirAsia Berhad, the world's best low cost airline has been named Malaysia's Best Company for Investor Relations (IR) this year.

AirAsia Berhad Chief Executive Officer, Aireen Omar received the award on behalf of the airline from Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan at the Malaysia Investor Relations Association (MIRA) Awards 2017 ceremony at Sime Darby Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

The airline also won the Best IR website award, which was presented to the airline's Group Head of Corporate Development, Elina Effendi, who previously headed the airline's IR team.

Aireen Omar said, "Thank you to the Malaysian Investor Relations Association for the award. This is the result of the solid teamwork that we have fostered within AirAsia. We have always been transparent with our investors and we will continue to engage positively with them in the future. Winning the Best IR website is also significant to us as it is in line with our vision to be a truly digital airline. We will also continue to strive towards building value and maximising returns to our shareholders, and push the boundaries in all aspects of AirAsia."

AirAsia and its long haul affiliate, AirAsia X also won two individual awards; the Best CFO for IR which was awarded to AirAsia Chief Financial Officer, How Kim Lian and Best Investor Relations Professional (Mid Cap) garnered by AirAsia X Investor Relations Manager, Hanif Idrose Mohamed.

How Kim Lian said, "I'm humbled by this recognition from the investment community. It is an honour to be nominated for this category, and a pleasant surprise to win this award. Well done AirAsia and great job to the team. A truly Allstars spirit and achievement."

Hanif Idrose Mohamed said, "It's an honour for me to receive this award. We totally didn't expect to win this award. It shows that AirAsia has a strong team. The hard work is not solely mine but as One AirAsia IR team which embodies its vision to provide consistent communication to our stakeholders."

The award is aimed at recognizing best IR practices by IR professionals and public-listed companies on Bursa Malaysia.
